We want to contribute to progress in the sustained release of injectable drugs

Join the transformation!

What is LAI Challenge?_

LAI challenge is an initiative being run by Laboratorios ROVI to find research centers, colleges, spin-offs and companies that can help us promote and transform sustained drug release technologies.

With this project, ROVI is opening up a new type of collaboration where professionals in the sector will be able to share ideas and projects that aim to improve effectiveness and increase adherence associated with these kinds of treatments.

What is an Open Innovation Program?_

An open innovation program seeks to collaborate with people and entities outside the company to explore new ideas and processes. This type of innovation makes use of external resources to find alternative solutions to corporate problems and challenges, expanding markets for innovation coming from elsewhere.

"It's not possible to solve today's problems with yesterday's solutions."

-Roger Van Oech.

How can we improve treatments through the use of injectable sustained-release drug technologies?_

Needs_

We are looking for technologies or solutions that allow us to make progress in one of the following lines of action:

1. Ready-to-use injectable technologies which do not require reconstitution

2. Injectable technologies for the release of proteins and other biological products

3. Injectable technologies that permit high doses of drugs or pro-drugs

At ROVI we want to keep improving treatments and we know that the best way of doing that is by working with the healthcare ecosystem.

We are a pharmaceutical company dedicated to research and development, manufacturing and marketing pharmaceutical products. As a result, we are committed to R&D as a driver of future growth.

For this reason, we want to continue to develop our research line in the field of sustained drug release, so we are looking for the most cutting-edge research and proposals on the market.

¿What do we offer?_

Impact

Collaboration between different stakeholders in the healthcare ecosystem to share knowledge that can improve patients’ day-to-day lives.

Support

Support from professionals at Laboratorios ROVI to develop the solution through service provision, a contract for or purchase of the patent, or licensing for use, as well as access to industry knowledge about regulatory, legal and operational matters.

Visibility

Project visibility in the innovation ecosystem and landscape, to promote the recognition and positioning of the solution in this sector.

Who can take part?_

We are looking for technologies or solutions that allow us to make progress in one of the following lines of action:

Technology in development

Potential applicants include domestic and overseas Research Centers, Colleges, Spin-Offs, Start-Ups and Companies that possess technology under development, which has been evaluated through proof of concept in animals, or an existing product. They will be looking for partners and alliances to launch their product or service on the market.

Existing product or service

Including Research Centers, Colleges, Spin-Offs, Start-Ups and Companies, both national and international, who have a product or service that has already been marketed and whose technology they wish to sell or license.

Projects aligned with the challenge

Innovative solutions, projects or technologies capable of addressing the challenge and solving one or more of the use cases detailed in the legal conditions of this initiative.

Selection criteria_

1

Original technologies which are the sole property of the candidate entity and that are protected or in the process of obtaining intellectual property rights.

2

Solutions or technologies that prevent or reduce burst release (except cases in which the toxicity or efficacy is not affected).

3

Technologies which have ideally been developed through an animal POC.

4

Technically viable solutions.

5

Transferable or licensable technologies.

6

Solutions or technologies free from vehicles with metals.

7

Injectable technologies for local and/or systemic treatments.

8

Long-acting technologies for chronic treatments.
